I’m a completely unmotivated art student, what can I do?

Beakersaurus asked:

I always hated school because I had to do subjects I didn’t like.

Now i’ve started college on a Art&Design course and I was given the impression that in this course I could choose what I want to do and take it further - Not the case though, I’ve got to do a WHOLE year of experimenting & paying out for subjects I don’t want to take on, and to top it off, I HAVE to do printmaking & 3D (They’re like the maths and english of the art course, Everyone hates it but we’ve got to do it)

Most people on the course get ema, learning grants and all sorts of money to support the course, They get about £30 a week! Where as I get nothing because my parents earn to much, but they can’t suppost my college work and the family & household, which is fair enough. (I’ve tried geting grants and money, but the college wont budge, even with my situation, so i’ve resulted to not turning up to the lessons I can’t afford eg. photography)
By the way, I can’t get a job either because i babysit my sisters during out of college hours because we have a odd family situation.

So basicly i’m hating my course, I can’t afford my course, and I have no motivation to go there. I’m good at art, thats why i took the course in the first place and art is what I want to do but I only enjoy 2 subjects so far, and thats all I can afford also.

So what do I do? I’d love to just go work for somthing that does art and i’d be pretty motivated to do that, but the chances of me geting a job in that is pretty slim!
But please don’t say stick at it because otherwise I wont get a good job, because i’m only 16! I don’t expect to get a good job by the time I leave college
I live in the UK, 16 is the age we leave school :D

How to compose an application for an art-university?

giulia12delphin asked:

hello everybode (especially art-students)!
I’d like to attend an art university in vienna next autumn and therefore I’d like to ask art students who did the exam and are now studying art and also those who “failed” at the exam (why? what was wrong with your application?) because I’d rather avoid making mistakes… thank you for any hint concerning an application for an art university (in vienna).
greetings, giulia

Gracie’s Mommy asked:

how would i do this

Of the 200 seniors graduating, 45 took an art class while in high school and 89 were in the band. Only 20 of the students who took an art class were not also in band. What is the probability that a graduate chosen at random was in the band or had taken an art class?

Do you know a studio where I can do some freelance art work as an internship?

author Posted by: Admin on date Mar 18th, 2009 | filed Filed under: Art
Blissey asked:

I’m a college student majoring in Fine Arts and I want to intern at some of the best magazines like Cosmogirl but the problem is that they requiere computer graphic skills which I don’t have any.

I tried with other magazine websites and they all demand the same thing (mostly Photoshop and Illustrator). I just wish I should’ve taken at least the intro course to computer art once…all I know is to do art in traditional medium (pencil, charcol, ink, etc.)

Do you any studio where I can rent and do freelance art as an internship or an art-related community service center? It has to be located in New York City.
